Abbey is a writer, producer, and educator who splits time between Cambridge (US) and Nairobi (Kenya).
Her short story, “Hawk Shot,” was awarded third place in the Bridport Prize and appears in the Bridport Prize 2025 Anthology. She was also selected by Key West Literary Seminar as a finalist for the 2026 Marianne Russo Award for a novel-in-progress. Her journalism has appeared in Narratively, Atlas Obscura, The Indy, LeVar Burton Reads, and The Atlas Obscura Podcast, where she served as a contributing producer and reporter for over four years.
Abbey earned an MFA in Fiction from Boston University, where she also taught undergraduate creative writing and was a Leslie Epstein Global Fellow.
Across mediums and genres, her writing explores environmental histories and human–nonhuman connections in a time of late capitalism and environmental decline. She is currently thinking about sperm whales and working on a (related) novel.
