Abbey is a writer, producer, and educator who splits time between Cambridge (US) and Nairobi (Kenya).

Her short story, “Hawk Shot,” won third place in the international Bridport Prize and appears in the Bridport Prize 2025 Anthology. She was also named a finalist for the 2026 Marianne Russo Award for a novel-in-progress. Her journalism has appeared in Narratively, Atlas Obscura, The Indy, LeVar Burton Reads, and The Atlas Obscura Podcast, where she served as a contributing producer and reporter for over four years.

Abbey is an MFA candidate at Boston University, where she has taught undergraduate creative writing and was a Leslie Epstein Global Fellow.

Across mediums and genres, her writing explores environmental histories and human–nonhuman connections in a time of late-stage capitalism and environmental decline. She is currently thinking a lot about sperm whales and working on a (related) novel.
